Scholarship Dinner
Everyone knows the impact that this overhyped covid debacle has created across the globe.
It reached in our backyard too forcing us to change venues and find a way to hold our Scholarship Celebration event.
This year in 2021 we moved the event a little later than our normal March event date into the early summer just as the face mask mandates we being eliminated – which allowed us to host a smaller event with the Sons of Italy Lodge 2738 in Pueblo, Colorado for about 150 people primarily for the students, their family and the donors of this year’s Scholarships awards.
This year 25 Scholarships were awarded representing $25,000 in sponsored scholarships for this year’s recipients.
The event was also notable as the Sons of Italy Grand Lodge of Colorado also awarded three scholarships from a statewide pool of applicants and all three were granted to students in Pueblo – which says a lot for our students working on their education and embracing their Italian Heritage & Culture.
Over the last 22 years, Sons of Italy Lodge 2738 has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships for local students which is excellent. COIAF has been proud to be a part of that effort with a bright look to the future.
Scholarship grantees must write a short essay explaining why their Italian Heritage is so important, in addition to providing their records of Academic excellence.
The scholarship dinner was prepared by and served by T&R Catering and included antipasto trays served family style with wine and a full course family-style Italian meal for all attendees.
Due to a technical issue the balance of the recipients are being reloaded – here are the three Sons of Italy Grand Lodge Recipients for 2021 –
