A concise chronology of the idea, dedication, and legacy of the Columbus Monument at Mesa Junction.
- 1892 — President William Harrison declares a holdiat in honor of Columbus the Genose navaigator who opend the trade routes to the new land;
- 1892 — Idea to recognie Columbus Day as a State (Colorado) holiday was proposed by Columbo Delliquadri and Hector Chiariglione following the Columbian Federation convention in Chicago.
- 1904 — Carnegie Library opens opposite the monument site.
- October 13, 1905 — Monument unveiled for dedicaiton to the City of Pueblo and Mayor West; a parade from Union Depot to the Piazza culminating in the dedicaiotn of the Monument with an estimated 7,500 attendees;
- 1907 — Colorado adopts Columbus Day (as a result of petitioning by Sen. Barela & Angelo Noce;
- 1937 — Federal Columbus Day established, with Chiariglione lauded as a principal civilian sponsor.
- 1905–present — Annual wreaths, dinners, and community observances in Pueblo.
- 2025 — 120th Anniversary; Re-dedication at 10:00 AM; Luncheon 11:30 AM;
