This year commemorates the 120th Anniversary of the original dedication of this Italian stone mason cut monument topped with a solid brass bust of Columbus; it is situated across the street from the sprawling Rawlings Library below –
120th Anniversary Program — October 13, 2025
Location: Columbus Monument, 100 E. Abriendo Ave, Pueblo, Colorado 81004
Luncheon Venue: Rawling’s Library — Ryals Conference Room, 4th Floor – attendees must have a ticket to enter the luncheon;
NO luncheon tickets shall be sold at the event or at the door – please show your ticket to enter the luncheon, per Library security
- 10:00 AM — Re-dedication Ceremony at the Monument (raffle winner announced on site)
- 11:30 AM — Exhibit walk-through: photographs, documents, social gathering
- 11:45 AM — “Voices of 1905” mini-film (animated historic speeches)
- 12:00 noon — Private Anniversary Luncheon (Hoag Library — Ryals Conference Room)

About the Monument


Conceived in 1892 by Hector Chiariglione and Columbo Delliquadri (above left and right), was unveiled on October 12, 1905, the Pueblo Columbus Monument became a symbol of American solidarity across communities.
- Italian sculptor Pietro Piai created the bronze bust;
- J.A. Byre engraved the pedestal;
- CF&I stonemason Michele Albo set the foundation.
